Conquer England! ...in the 9th century!

878 – The Vikings is the first installment in the Birth of Europe series, a cousin of the Birth of America series (1775 The American Revolution, 1812 The Invasion of Canada, and soon 1754 The Conquest). Its theme is the Viking invasions on the Anglo-Saxon coasts in the 9th century.

As usual, the game uses 90% of the common rules while including differences that will create a new gaming experience. In 878 The Vikings, the camps are asymmetrical since the English camps start the game with territories while the Viking camps will land on the island in a wave of invasion. Another change, armies can be led by these lords. In this case, this army can fight in its movement just as it can deposit or recover units on its way.

Then follows new tactics totally different from 1775 The American Revolution or 1812 The Invasion of Canada.
