Description

Mercado de Lisboa is a thinky filler title, a tile-placement game based upon the Lisboa city-building system in which players pay money to open specialty stands in the mercado (the marketplace) and build restaurants next to them to improve their profits. These restaurants & stands attract customers -- the more and the most motivated the better. Mercado de Lisboa is a fast-paced game; with very straightforward and easy to learn rules that lead to contemplating deep tactical choices.

Mercado de Lisboa uniquely blends lightness with depth. The actions are straightforward, and the game can be taught in five minutes. Turns are quick. Each game has a distinctly different feel & replayability is great!

While you’ll develop certain strategies with experience, you must be prepared to adapt and re-adapt them based on the board state and how your opponents are playing. You will also have to meet the challenge of placing stand tiles when you need a particular restaurant tile; or the even more challenging puzzle of trying to place the right customer tiles to minimize your opponents’ profits while maximizing your own.
