You play as explorers discovering a mystical and unknown island. Your goal: explore the island, fulfill your hidden personal objectives while proposing a correct map of the island to earn as many points as possible.

When the discovery of an unknown island was announced, scientific minds were excited. The most enterprising set up expeditions to map this new land. The land of Misterra.
You play as the leader of one of these expeditions. Explore the island, take advantage of the relief and draw up a map. Will you seek to remain faithful to the reality of the terrain or to confirm the hypotheses - sometimes extravagant - of your sponsor?

In Maps of Misterra, you play as a cartographer moving around the island while drawing the surrounding landscapes on your Parchment board. The island is revealed as you make observations. You score prestige points thanks to:
- the fidelity of your Parchment board in relation to the revealed island
- the respect of the topographical hypotheses made by your sponsor… even if it means moving away from the reality of the island
- the claiming of regions to install research stations there.

At the end of the game, the player with the most points wins.
